Kicking off the world's greatest 5 on 5 flag football blog

My name is Mario and I live in Virginia.  I've coached my kid's flag football teams for more than 20 seasons.  In grad school, I coached and played flag.  In undergrad, I coached and played as well.   Across those years, my teams have won many championships, but we've also had our fair share of losing seasons.

Recently, one of my kids has gotten into basketball and I've coached a little there.  I found a tremendous amount of resources online and was able to quickly ramp up my coaching acumen and gave my team a good experience (I hope), thanks to the resources that were made available to me.  I've noticed that when it comes to flag football, there's not the same level of resources out there.

I've come to believe that Flag is an amazing way to get kids into football and teach them the sport.  They way many people approach it though leaves a lot of opportunity out there to get better.   The concepts and approaches to flag can be based in tackle concepts -- and, I believe if done well, can be used to help kids develop excellent core skills that will translate into tackle as they move to their in their older years.

So, I am making this blog to post my thoughts on flag football -- and, if someone happens to find it, to answer their questions based on my experience of what works best in flag.

If you stumble upon this and have a question, please ask.  I'd be happy to share what I know.
